With three speeches and six table topics tonight, Catherdral City Toastmasters was on fire with some brilliant performances complete with the usual seasoning of entertainment and at times laugh-out-loud comedy.
Scott treated us to a great review of ‘The season of the Jew’ by Maurice Shadbolt, leaving us all wanting to pick up a copy and read it for ourselves. Jan amazed us all with her awesome no-notes speech ‘The history of the humble crust of bread’ as she took us on a journey of bread through the ages. If we weren’t already convinced she’d done a great job, she completely blew us over at the end when out of nowhere she produced an entire loaf of freshly baked focaccia bread complete with dips! Incredible. Next, JP rolled out his winning humorous speech from last week ‘Hurry sickness makes you crazy’ which built to some absolute magical comedy moments as we all identified with the madness of our everyday hurried actions. Rebecca’s table topics were based around some very clever questions tonight, which lead to some very clever answers, such as ‘The last thing you do before you go to bed’, or ‘Do you think aliens are friendly or evil’.
Congratulations also to Tasha on a perfectly executed first toastmaster role tonight and thank you Andrew, our area governor for visiting all the way from Greymouth. See you all next time!
