Tenacious structure with email & upholstery

An all-round interesting, entertaining and educational evening. Toastmaster Rohit was captain of the ship and kicked us off introducing grammarian Ade with her word of the day “Tenacious”.

Jan took the floor next with a captivating recount of her recent experience, renovating French furniture. Doing a fantastic job speaking without notes, Jan showed how simple props can really add to a talk, not to mention how candle wax can be used to create a paint effect!

Tim was next with his CC9 persuasive speech ‘Lean communication’. Starting with a bit of a ‘rant’ about poor use of email in the workplace, Tim closed off with the fail-safe way to mitigate it all, challenging the audience to change their ways.

Next up was Dave with a brilliant educational talk on speech structure. Complete with handouts, Dave demonstrated by example, just how easy it is to build structure into a talk.

Filling in for Gary was Tabletopics Master JP, who rolled out what might just be the most difficult table topics session in Cathedral City history. Everyone who talked was definitely challenged – and we toastmasters love a challenge.

JP’s off to Greymouth this weekend to represent our club in the area speech contest. We wish you every success over the hill Jonathan.

See you all next time!
