The big un-wrap

That’s it. That’s a wrap for 2013. Thanks for coming!

But as Gary pointed out tonight, the Toastmasters year is only half-way done and we’re still well on-track to reaching many of our distinguished club goals. Tonight was the calendar-year round-up – a chance to have a bit of fun with our wider Toastmaster friends and family.

We kicked off with a recap of the year from Gary where he commended the atmosphere at meetings and the club’s growth as well as individual’s growth he’d observed. Gary also highlighted by example, excellence and initiative that he’d seen at work throughout the year.

Gary wraps up the year in Christmas style

JP ran an outstanding tabletopics session, with topics building up in difficulty until eventually Dave Y. had to explain how he came to be in a bathroom in Korea with a dead duck in one hand and a super-frozen-icecream in the other! And he pulled it off! Well done Dave! Other topics included Christmas season confusion with “Winter or Summer” by Jennifer, protein-packed goldfish-fried-rice with Tasha, morning-sock drama and anti-social breakfast pancake behaviour with Tim and guest Kendra’s 5km/h start to the day before she finds coffee in “Coffee or Tea”.

Next up was Gary’s incredibly challenging pub quiz, complete with projector presentation, custom-made answer sheets, joker cards and smooth-talking pub-quiz commentary to boot!

The Christmas supper was exceptional. Magnificent!

The last gag of the evening was a round of secret santa, played with the obligatory steal-your-neighbour’s-gift-if-you-like-the-look-of-it rule. Fun, games, laughs and great times all-round. Congratulations to all who made the evening such a roaring success.

Secret Santa fun

Toastmasters will resume on January 14 – same bat time, same bat channel.

See you then!
