Something happened to Mother in another dimension

Our Toastmaster has clearly been feeling the chill judging by his attire tonight.  ‘You know your meeting’s in good hands with Dave’ praised Gary in his evaluation of Dave tonight – well done Dave on running a great meeting.

With a great bard reading tonight was Ade with the original 1805 poem, Old Mother Hubbard.  This bard was beautifully executed, with a little background & context to begin, then an expressive reading in full-motion – just superb!

Kicking off his Toastmasters career tonight was our newest member David B with his ice breaker speech “Something happened on the way to heaven”.  Supported by Powerpoint Presentation, David walked his audience through his origins, beginning in Bristol, then with Rolls Royce, Trainspotting, Lawn Bowls and eventually New Zealand, which David dubbed “heaven”.  Congratulations on this fantastic beginning tonight David!

Wrapping up his Advanced Communicator Bronze award tonight was Tim with his “Proposal” speech from the Technical Presentations manual ‘Another Dimension’.  Tim set about using the ‘Inverted triangle’ method to build a case for his new product idea, then launched into presenting several mockups of the proposed software solution.  Following the presentation, Tim took four minutes to take questions from the audience.

David K ran a great table topics impromptu speaking segment tonight which evaluator Gary praised as being “topics you could really get your teeth into”.  “We’re going back to school” tasked participants to speak about High School subjects-choices.  Janet began with ‘Food technology’ and bouncy Miss Boing Boing the home economics teacher.  Jennifer was next with “Woodwork” – an hilarious story about how she just wasn’t allowed to study this at school.  Vida landed ‘Health & Hygiene’, Sam ‘Animal Husbandry’ and our other Sam ‘Dancing’ revealing his anxiety about dancing at his forthcoming wedding!

Another great evening.  Thank you all!
